Realm Strength:  Problem-solving. The people of One Republic are innovative at dealing with puzzling situations and are adept at thinking outside the box. Considered a shadow star up in all situations dealing with puzzles.

Realm Weakness: Short fuse. Those born of this realm struggle with keeping their calm in situation that arouse anger. For all checks dealing with this emotion they are considered a shadow star down and are susceptible to aether that induces these emotions.

Climate: A temperate biome with drastic distinct changes through each season, with winter lasting very long.

Physical Characteristics: Located in the north eastern most portion of UR. Mountainous alpine region, with many rivers, lakes, deciduous forest, farmland, valleys, and an abundance of waterfalls. A portion of the realm features low lying coastline, but the majority has a rugged landscape. 

​

Unique Feature: One of the two Universities for aether studies can be found here. The High Academy for Aether Research & Development.

Garb

     The One Republic is the leading realm in clockwork and steam powered inventions, which provide the sewists of the area access to foot powered sewing mechanisms, resulting in more complex patterns and designs. The realm features fashions ranging from Victorian/Edwardian, Steampunk, Colonial,  Musketeer, and Lolita styles. Fabrics often include intricate patterns, brocades, lace, tweed, and mixed fibers. Common pieces and accessories include things such as chatelains, top hats, tricorns, newsboys, double breasted cuts, tailored styles, multiple belts, looking pieces, fingerless gloves, capelets, half capes, ascots, mid waisted pants, spats, layered styles, hard buttons, and buckles. Favorite embellishments include military braiding and fabric soutache.

Architecture

     Structures are built sturdy in these garrison style cities, featuring a mix of Romanesque and Polish gothic architecture. Pulling from local quarries they build using stone, brick, slate, marble, and solid timbers. Inside, dark woods are heavily utilized featuring an Arts & Crafts style and sometimes include ornately carved pieces. Elaborate tapestries cover the interior walls of many of the wealthier citizens. Roofs are often covered in slate tiles, though some feature other materials of a different color to form eye pleasing patterns. Gas lamps are a rare sight in other realms, but are used regularly in the open areas of One Republic, lining many streets and pathways.

Culture

     The realm’s governing body is run by what is known as Parliament, which is divided into various walled precincts. This is comprised of an advisory council, the bulk of which consists of the Assistants ( 16-24 yeas of age) and Viziers (65+ yoa). Assistants have precedence when electing new members to Head of Parliament (A title known as Viceroy), from the Chancellors (25-64 yoa). Viceroy hold the final say in laws and governing ordinances.

     One Republic is a densely populated realm and as with any large population, there are issues with organized crime. This realm is home to 3 gangs that will often go to war with one another over territory. Most of the available turf is ruled by either the Stars or the Stripes. Though the Red Coats are a smaller faction, they are fearsome in their own and are known to have many Crimson Magoi in their ranks. The Stars are the most diverse in their skills and their members come from any walk of life. The Stripes are known to favor Caster Pistols.

     Public Houses (usually shortened to Pubs) serve as the main gathering and focal points in this realm. Merchants often carry out their business meetings in them and many a deal are brokered over a pint of ale in some dusky corner of one. Joining them are often political debates, the sharing of news, and much of the local gossip. If these deals or conversations stretch into the wee hours of the night one might opt to remain for the evening and take lodging in one.

Points of Interest

     One Republic is home to the other major university of aether studies in UR. The High Academy for Aether Research & Development is a newly founded school. This University specializes in the further research and development of existing gramaryes and Aether.
